Facts about waxing
Because waxing effectively pulls the hair out from the root and also removes the top layer of dead skin cells, waxing lasts longer than some other methods of hair removal, such as, depilatory creams and shaving which simply break the hair off at the surface of the skin.
Although waxing is not considered a permanent hair removal method; some people find that in the long term, the hair appears to be growing back less and less. To some extent this may also be due to other factors such as natural hormonal changes and the fact that hair grows in cycles, so not all the hair grows back at the same time.
To all you wax virgins out there, the good news is that although some people find it uncomfortable, it’s very quick and most people become desensitized over time finding that it becomes less and less painful the more times they get it done. Not to worry, at JOZ SALON & SPA, we use both hot wax and ‘warm’ or strip wax methods of waxing.
Strip wax treatments
For larger areas such as legs and arms, we use warm wax which is applied with a roller and then removed with a paper strip. This quick and mess free waxing system will leave your skin feeling silky smooth and hair free for up to 6 weeks.
Lycon hot wax treatments
For waxing the smaller and more sensitive areas such as the underarms, bikini and face, we use Lycon hot wax. Lycon hot wax’s special formulation means that it only grabs hair and not skin. This means much less discomfort during treatment and less irritation following the treatment.
Prior to waxing
If possible prior to any waxing treatment; avoid applying any creams or lotions to the area (or deodorant for an underarm wax). The oils in these products can prevent the wax from sticking to the hair. The therapist will apply a cleansing solution to the area prior to waxing; the less product residue in the area in the first place, the more effective the treatment is likely to be.
