Kärcher 2016 Global Turnover Exceeds AED 9.1 BillionKärcher

Kärcher, the world leader in innovative cleaning technology solutions continues on course for growth. In the financial year 2016, Kärcher achieved a turnover of AED 9.1 billion (2.33 billion euros) and increased its sales by more than AED 390M (100 million euros) or nearly 5%, setting a sales record once again. The number of employees has also increased. At the end of 2016, Kärcher employed 11,862 people in 65 countries worldwide – over 500 employees more than in the previous year.

“Our growth in the past year was around twice as high as the sectoral average,” says Hartmut Jenner, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Management Board. “Had it not been for the sharp currency fluctuations, our growth, at more than 7%, would have been even higher. What is encouraging is that we have increased our turnover in nearly all markets in national currency.”

Kärcher launched more than 100 new products in 2016. In the commercial sector, the cleaning machine manufacturer completely redesigned the trigger gun for high-pressure cleaners, with a trigger that uses the recoil of the water stream. In addition to a new high-pressure cleaner range, Kärcher launched the floor cleaner FC 5 for end consumers in Europe, a completely new machine that vacuums and wipes in one pass and is set to reach the Middle East mid-2017.

Kärcher also made substantial investments in 2016. At its headquarters in Winnenden, the new customer and visitor centre was opened. In recent years, the family-owned company has invested more than AED 117 million (30 million euros) in offices, an auditorium and customer centre at the Winnenden site. The next expansion, a building with 220 workplaces and a test unit for car washes, was already being planned in 2017.

In the Middle East, Kärcher opened a dedicated one-stop shop for all after sales maintenance and service at Ras al Khor, in Dubai, UAE, and a dedicated office in Doha, Qatar. There are further plans to open Kärcher centres across the region by 2020.

With its economic growth, Kärcher is also expanding its social commitment internationally. This includes the restoration of historic monuments, as well as supporting non-profit organisations. In 2016, Kärcher cleaned the Hermann monument in Detmold and the historic Fort Anping in Taiwan, among others, using its own technology and experts. As part of its social commitment, Kärcher supported SOS Children’s Villages in Germany and abroad with machines and donations. In 2016, in cooperation with the Global Nature Fund, green filter systems were constructed in Mexico and Columbia for village communities.
