The New Year is here and many of us will be making new decisions, implementing new actions and changing a few things to better our lives. However, will it include taking new steps toward saving electricity and energy? Will we change our habits to create an impact in saving electricity and water? Or is it going to be the same and wastage will just continue to increase over the years?

Let’s talk about some facts and tips on saving both electricity and water.

When it comes to electricity, it is known that normal lamps mean: less illumination, less life and more consumption. Alternatively, energy saving lamps have better illumination, longer life and will save up to 80% of electricity and more!

Unlike incandescent bulbs, which release 90 percent of their energy as heat, LEDs use energy far more efficiently with little wasted heat. Also, LED lights are considered to be safe, environmental friendly, free of mercury and lead, plus they can be recycled easily compared to most fluorescent lamps.

When it comes to heat itself, it does get into your house through walls, windows and through the ceiling. The best way to avoid such problems is by installing Thermal Insulation that can block the heat up to 70%!

Make sure to maintain your fridges properly since poor maintenance of freezers can result in an increase in energy use of up to 10%.

Coming to water consumption, studies show that one drip per second wastes more than 3,000 per year, that’s the approximate amount required for more than 180 showers. As for the shower itself, using a restricted-flow showerhead, can save up to 15 gallons of water during a 10-minute shower.

When it comes to water shortage in your house, it could be due to one of these reasons: misuse of water, excessive garden watering and improper internal plumbing system.

It’s easy to plan on taking an action to stop electricity and water wastage, but implementing it is the real challenge. Start fresh with a new plan and make the necessary changes in your actions to lead to a brighter future. Remember every action will affect your and your family’s future.
