Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) secretary general Mohammed Al Nusuf has extended his congratulations to members of the Bahrain national mixed martial arts team on their impressive achievement at the recently-concluded Africa Open Championships in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The nationals triumphed with seven medals in total – including four gold, one silver and two bronze – in this four-day event.
During his reception of the delegation, led by BMMAA president Khalid Alkhayyat at the committee premises in Seef, Al Nusuf commended the results marked by the Bahraini athletes in such a challenging mixed martial arts championship.
Al Nusuf congratulated His Majesty King Hamad, HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister, HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander, First Deputy Prime Minister, and Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty for Charity Works and Youth Affairs and chairman of Supreme Council for Youth and Sports.
He attributed the achievement to the added support of His Majesty King to sports and Bahraini youth hence positioning the kingdom among the leading countries in GCC in the field of sports.
The secretary general also stressed on the wise leadership of BOC president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS) First Deputy Chairman.
He added that the victory was the kingdom’s second consecutive impressive achievement, which in a short period of time after Bahrain’s National Boxing team won Zayed Open Championship in the United Arab Emirates.
