Dr. Shaikha Rana stressed that this project comes as part of the ongoing efforts of the ministry in the digital field to meet the goals of Bahrain Vision 2030, adding that it also builds on the Bahraini diplomatic achievements of the Kingdom under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa.

Dr. Shaikha Rana also noted the keenness of Foreign Affairs Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa to develop service projects and their mechanisms, highlighting his constant follow up on the efforts of the Ministry in coordination with companies and institutions from the private sector to improve the sustainability of development work among all state institutions, and implement the largest projects at all levels in the institutional and service work.

The undersecretary the welcomed cooperation with Avaya company known for its regional and international efforts in the development of services in the digital field.

Dr. Shaikha Rana said that this cooperation is among the most important achievements of the ministry in cooperation with the private sector recently, especially now with Batelco, which is designing, engineering and implementing the systems of “Avaya” for all institutions, ministries and state bodies in different parts of Bahrain.

She also hailed Batelco’s achievement of Avaya’s High Performing Partner of the Year 2017 award, which reflects the recognition Batelco has achieved from the company.

The Undersecretary also affirmed her keenness to activate the latest technological means due to the rapid periodic changes in the communications field as well as the development of the society’s awareness and interest in using such means for communicating. She also stressed the need to keep pace with the latest updates of communication technology and including them in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ mechanisms to deal with the different situations of citizens abroad as fast as possible with the highest levels of responsibility and competency.

Dr. Shaikha Rana said that the duties of the ministry are highly sensitive, and require a high degree of efficiency, speed, and use of modern tools and technologies.

This type of projects also represents an opportunity for the development of young national cadres, and the improvement of the nature of service work in the interest of the Kingdom and citizens.
The undersecretary highlighted the commitment of the ministry to rapidly respond to the needs of citizens and residents of Bahrain, without limiting the obstacles of time and space, which are the most difficult obstacles to work with in regards to community service between the two components (the Ministry and the citizen). However, the project will overcome all the administrative and logistical challenges entrusted to it through a flexible and integrated technical plan, which will proceed in a measured manner without any potential obstacles.

The undersecretary also added that the second phase of the project will cover all the missions of the Kingdom abroad, which will constitute a qualitative shift in the level of services provided by the Ministry to cater for its citizens abroad all kinds of assistance. She also stressed that any task will be handled efficiently and as agreed upon, in order to achieve the maximum level of utilisation, and benefit the national, economic and social sectors.

In recognition of the work of the ministry to strengthen communication between its missions and Bahraini citizens abroad, Dr. Shaikha Rana noted that the Ministry launched “Wejhaty”, which is an application that helps facilitate communication between the missions of Bahrain abroad and Bahraini citizens. The citizens can use this free service to obtain information to communicate with the embassies and consulates of Bahrain abroad, in addition to receiving warnings and immediate alerts in case of emergencies, natural disasters or terrorist operations. The application also includes information on obtaining visas and information about regulations and laws in different countries.
The undersecretary pointed out that the aim of the application is to give priority to Bahraini citizens and to follow up on their various needs outside the country.

Dr. Shaikha Rana noted that the Ministry attends to the needs of many Bahraini citizens abroad monthly, and that it facilitates the process of communication through its use of various media outlets. This project will enhance communication through responding quickly and will thus open a greater horizon in the view of more electronic and digital projects to serve Bahrain and its citizens wherever they are, in all countries of the world.
