More than a million passengers crossed King Fahd Causeway during Eid

More than one million passengers crossed the King Fahd Causeway linking Saudi Arabia and Bahrain during the Eid Al Adha holidays in Saudi Arabia, Al Yaum reported.

Fresh statistics revealed that a total of 1,165,802 crossed the strategic artery between August 14 and August 27.

According to figures released by the Eastern Province Passports office, 584,565 passengers entered Saudi Arabia via the causeway during this period – while 581,237 headed to Bahrain.

The King Fahd Causeway witnessed the highest flux of passengers compared with other border entry points, with 55 per cent of the overall number of passengers.

It was followed by Khafji border crossing (348,875), King Fahd International Airport in Dammam (221,946), Al Batha’a (190,403), Al Raqai (173,904) and Al Ahsa’a (2,155).

“Overall, a total of 2,199,454 passengers crossed the Eastern Province entry points on both ways during the same period,” said Eastern Province Customs media spokesman Colonel Mo’alla Al Otaibi.

Twenty-nine lanes were operated to cater to the massive number of passengers entering Saudi Arabia from Bahrain.
