Tada means mountain and Tadasana has you mimic a mountain by standing tall and steady. It is the foundation for all the standing postures and improves posture, balance, stability and groundedness.
It might look like you are just standing there but it is an active pose and promotes the experience of stillness and strength.
Since this pose is the basic foundation for all standing poses it’s important to understand its subtle alignment points which are indicated in the picture.
