Nomination Doors Open for 9th eGovernment Excellence Award

The Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) announced that nomination doors have opened for the 9th edition of eGovernment Excellence Award 2017; under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak AlKhalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Information & Communication Technology. The award is accepting nominations through www.egovaward.bh from 18th May- 22nd June 2017.

In its 9th version, the award continues to reward and highlight innovative as well as pioneering initiatives within the ICT sector by creating a competitive, constructive environment where everyone – whether public, private sectors or individuals – seek to present projects, services and innovative systems which provide the highest levels of benefits to users while adhering to Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030.

“The authority is pleased to host this award which is an important contribution for enhancing the principle of eParticipation and the open door for entrepreneurship in the technology sector – an aspect that is in line with the directives of the eGovernment program,” stated iGA’s Chief Executive Mr. Mohammed Ali AlQaed on the award.

“New categories have been introduced to the award in the government sector such as the categories ‘Best Government-to-Government eService’ and ‘Best eGovernment Integrated Services for Individuals or Businesses’. Additionally, this year’s award focuses on innovative applications that are utilized to upgrade the level of services as well as reduce costs, time and efforts in accomplishing a process or a set of processes through exchanging information and completing transactions. Overall, the award highlights all the innovative projects that enhance the ICT infrastructure in the Kingdom of Bahrain,” the CE further added.

Mr. AlQaed urged government entities, businesses, civil society institutions and citizens to submit their work in the award. This participation benefits them by enriching their ICT knowledge and enhancing the value of their organization’s brand in this sector; additionally, the winning organization gains the position of a successful entity in the country since it advances other organizations’ quality of products and services provided in a field that thrives at a rapid, competitive pace. In addition to having the opportunity of communicating and cooperating between participating organizations and individuals, along with the ability to improve their work based on comments provided by the jury committee for all participants.

This year’s Government Awards categories comprise ‘Best eGovernment Website’, ‘Best Government-to-Government eService’, ‘Best Practice in Community eParticipation’, and ‘Best eGovernment Integrated Services for Individuals or Businesses’. While Multi Sectors Awards categories encompass ‘Best Application for Smart Devices’; combined with Citizen Awards categories of both ‘Best eConcept’ and ‘eCitizen’.

The Organizing Committee is working on preparing participants to enter the awarding competition by conducting workshops about the award in an aim to provide an overview of the requisites and required standards to accept the participated work and mechanism of submission. Participants will later benefit from the Jury’s comments by developing their future work as the Jury Committee also include experts from Bahrain along with international jury members. These experts, who will later join the Jury Committee, will be announced.
