Open Track thrills and passenger experiences set for fun-filled Friday at BIC

Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) continues to live up to its role as a favourite destination for race fans and thrill-seekers, as it hosts another series of adrenaline-pumping activities on Friday (Editor’s note: February 17) in Sakhir.

“The Home of Motorsport in the Middle East” will be opening its doors to the public for an Open Track Day for cars and bikes, as well as a pair of passenger rides from BIC’s Ultimate Track Experience.

The events will be held from 9am to 5pm along BIC’s 5.412-kilometre Grand Prix track.

Open Track gives participants a chance to drive their very own road cars or motorbikes along a world-class racing facility. Drivers are able to choose between a full day’s participation at BD85 per person or just a half day at BD60. A single 30-minute drive is also an option at BD25.

Those who book in advance can enjoy a discount. The full day’s drive would cost just BD75, while a half-day would be BD50 and a single session would cost only BD20.

Those wishing to accompany Open Track participants as a passenger may do so for an additional fee of BD12.

Friday’s Open Track activity will be run to the highest of international safety standards, although drivers will still be able to push their cars or motorbikes to their very limit. All vehicles must first go through scrutineering before being allowed to take to the track.

Meanwhile, the Ultimate Track Experience is offering passenger rides in a Clio Cup and Radical SR3.
The Clio Cup ride comprises a single three-lap session of around 40 minutes, and it can be enjoyed for BD25.

The Clip Cup is one of the world’s most popular sports cars. This Renault-manufactured automobile features a 1.6-litre Turbocharged engine, and it can generate up to 220bhp and 6,000rpm. It has a paddle shift racing gearbox and an FIA-specification roll cage and seats.

The Radical SR3 passenger ride will be conducted alongside one of BIC’s expert driving instructors. It will consist of a three-lap session of around 40 minutes, and it costs BD35. A Radical SR3 boasts an RPE-Suzuki Generation 1,340 DOHC engine. It can go from zero to 100kmh in 3.4 seconds, and also has a six-speed sequential gearbox and paddle gearshift system.

All those wishing to take part in any of Friday’s activities must wear the appropriate clothing along with closed-toe footwear.
