Rovio Entertainment appoints new head of its media business

Rovio Entertainment, maker of Angry Birds mobile games, said today it has appointed Tuomo Korpinen to lead its media business. Korpinen is the new president of Rovio Animation and Blue Bird Distribution — the two divisions that are tasked with taking the Angry Birds property into movies and other entertainment.

He will also take on the role of global executive vice president of media business with operational, commercial, marketing and development responsibility of all media related activities and properties for the company. Korpinen will report directly to Rovio CEO Pekka Rantala and will be based in Los Angeles.
