Relish authentic Chinese cuisine at Kowloon
Nestled in Umm Al Hassam, is a cozy little Chinese restaurant, called Kowloon, which offers an authentic taste of the cuisine and a recent 25% discount, in honor of the Chinese New Year.
The walls are covered with artwork that showcases classic scenes from China, like flowers and houses, with little red lanterns hanging in the sealing, rosewood furniture and a dim lit ambiance. The outside seating area is surrounded with greenery and bright lights.
To start off, BTW tried the classic chicken Hot & Sour soup, which was tangy and teemed with delicious bits of spice, enough to warm up the stomach for the upcoming meal.
Then we sampled popular appetizers on the menu, such as the Fredy Shrimps, which are shrimp balls cooked with chili garlic sauce and alive with flavor. We also had Golden Prawns and Szechuan Chicken with the latter being sizzling and aromatic.
For the main course, the Mongolian Beef with oyster sauce is delicately salty with tender beef strips and beautifully cut orange and red, yellow and green bell peppers.
The unique dish that stood out was the Jewelry Rice, an intriguing name, which is a combination of rice, with a fried egg stuffed in it, surrounded by mixed chicken and vegetables, which adds glamour and flavor, to an otherwise standard rice dish.
Along with their Chinese New Year offers, which will continue until next week, Kowloon will also introduce new duck and Thai dishes this year.
