‘Sea Festival’ in Bahrain

Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority Unveils Plans to Host ‘Sea Festival’

The Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority announced today that it will host a ‘Sea Festival’ next month with an aim to celebrate the Kingdom’s rich link to the sea tying it to several traditions and cultural activities such as pearl diving and dhow making.

The ‘Sea Festival’, held between October 20th to 29th at Bahrain Bay, is part of the activities organized for the ‘Manama Gulf Capital of Tourism’ calendar of events.

image-3“The festival is in line with our overall strategy to promote and preserve the Kingdom’s heritage to the residents and tourists. The event will include a series of activities to suit the entire family,” Chief Executive of the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority, Shaikh Khalid bin Humood Al Khalifa told reporters yesterday during a press conference held to announce the details pertaining to the festival.

image-1The press conference included the Director of Tourism Marketing & Promotions at Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority, Yousif Al Khan and CEO of Bahrain Bay, Gagan Suri.

image“The Sea Festival is the ideal platform to promote the history of the sea, how it evolved over the years, in order to educate tourists and the new generation. We will be blending the past with the present in order to highlight the rich history of Bahrain’s sea industry,” added Shaikh Khalid.

image-3The festival will include a series of activities including an underwater photography exhibition, 3D virtual tour, simulator, interactive fish tank, live performances and a food and beverages area. The public will also have the opportunity to purchase Bahraini pearls from merchants.    

The event, held over a period of ten days, aims to promote the various elements related to the sea industry including pearl diving in order to preserve it for the next generation.

image-2“The aim of the Sea Festival is to attract tourists from neighboring Gulf countries and we look forward to welcoming them to Bahrain to enjoy the festival and other attractions,” said the Director of Tourism Marketing & Promotions at Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority, Yousif Al Khan.

Further commenting on the event, CEO of Bahrain Bay, Gagan Suri said: “We are more than happy to cooperate with the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority in order to host such a unique event that revives a Bahraini legacy and offers exciting events for the entire family.”

image-6The Sea Festival will be held every day, between October 20th to 29th, from 5pm to 11pm. Entrance is BD2.
