Shaikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa, Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) member and Women’s Sport Committee chairwoman, has received a special treat on Bahrain women’s success at the Fourth Arab Women’s Sports Tournament held in Sharjah.

The nationals put up an outstanding show in the 10-day 16-nation tournament and came out on top with 28 medals in total, including 12 gold, 7 silver and 9 bronze.

During a special welcome ceremony, hosted by the BOC, general secretary Abdulrahman Askar, board member Ali Isaaqi and committee executive directors, congratulated Shaikha Hayat on this extraordinary success achieved by the kingdom’s women.

Askar described the outcome as an unprecedented achievement for Bahrain women, which underlines the tremendous efforts of Shaikha Hayat and all delegation members to prepare the teams that spearheaded the nation in this challenging regional competition.

“We are all grateful and proud for the efforts of Shaikha Hayat and her support to women’s sports in Bahrain, which played a key part in this victory in the Sharjah tournament, said Askar.

“Shaikha Hayat contributions to Bahrain finishing first overall proves her vast experience as former player and administrator, and a major boost to our women’s sports. We are so proud to have someone like here around and she he is truly an idol for so many Bahraini players and officials”.
