The Organizing Committee behind the ‘Shop Bahrain’ Festival announced today the launch of a nationwide ‘Shopping Bag Design’ competition targeting school and university students. The competition, aimed at promoting the creative and art skills of students in the Kingdom, will kick-off today and run until November 30th, 2015.
Further commenting on this initiative, Shop Bahrain Director, Nawaf Al Koheji, said: “We would like to thank the Ministry of Education for their co-operation in launching this first-of-its-kind competition. We believe that it is vital to involve students, from all ages, in such creative initiatives in order to hone and develop their artistic talents.”
“The main aim behind this competition is to host arts and design activities in order to further position Bahrain as a social and cultural hub. We have great talents in Bahrain and we would like to showcase their artistic abilities through a creative manner. This initiative further reiterates our main goal of engaging with Bahrainis and residents from all walks of life to be a part of the largest festival in the Kingdom,” he added.
To take part in the ‘Shopping Bag Design’ competition; participating students must submit their final artwork to the following email address, shoppingbag@shopbahrain.com . The email should also include information such as name, date of birth, Smart ID number and the name of school or university.
A panel will then review all the submitted artworks and select the top five winners. The winning artworks will be produced on the festival’s shopping bag and distributed to the participating Shopping Malls. The winners will also receive a gift from the festival’s committee.
‘Shop Bahrain’, is set to be the biggest nationwide festival with a unique 30-day celebration of Bahrain’s heritage, hospitality and tourism offering for the entire family running from December 24th 2015 until 23rd January 2016. The calendar of events includes ‘VIVA Shop & Skate’ the largest outdoor skating rink housed outside Al A’ali Shopping Complex and ‘The Family Fair’ an exciting carnival held during the New Year’s Eve Weekend at Prince Khalifa bin Salman Park in Hidd. Other highlights include the return of Al Riwaq’s ‘The Nest’, showcasing local and regional talent, in addition to ‘The Taste Tour’ taking place in the center of it all – Adliya. Mega raffles will also offer residents and visitors the opportunity to win big and amazing prizes.
