“Smile” initiative celebrates Children’s day at UNIC in Bahrain

World Children’s Day was celebrated at the United Nations Information Centre in Bahrain. This event  organized by “Smile”, initiative of Future Society for youth as part of its effort to provide psycho social support to cancer-stricken children and their families,

During event, 14 kids of “Smile” heroes were honoured at the gala event in presence of 60 attendees of kids and their families.

Blue, the colour that symbolises childhood, was all over the place, kids clothing and attendees. This year children’s day was themed at “Children are taking over and turning the world blue”.

UNIC Director, Samir Aldarabi, welcomed Smile’s little heroes, noting that the goals of sustainable development clearly state the need to ensure the rights of children wherever they are and coincides with calls for a world in which all children are enrolled in school, safe from harm and able to realise their potential.

“Universal Children’s Day offers each of us an inspirational entry-point to advocate, promote and celebrate children’s rights, translating into dialogues and actions that will build a better world for Children.” He added

For his part, Mr. Subah Al Zayani the chairman of future Society for youth stated that Children’s day is an important occasion to highlight the importance of building a brighter future for the children around the world.  He praised the efforts exerted by the Kingdom of Bahrain to provide an environment conducive to social, educational, family and health for children and to ensure the building of human capital in the Kingdom of Bahrain with a healthy, rational and psychological generation capable of continuing the desired national building process.

Al Zayani stressed the keenness of the Future Society for Youth to represent Bahrain in all local, regional and international events, highlighting the cultural image of the Kingdom and the Bahraini society’s progress, especially towards the most vulnerable segments of society such as cancer-stricken children.
