In the island of Bahrain, nothing compares to the joy of kick-starting one’s weekend with the kick of an almost never-ending and widely spread seafood night that is delicately crafted to satiate every craving in your heart for some amazing seafood preparations. This concept has been most successfully harnessed by the Ramada Hotel and Suites, Amwaj Islands and BTW can vouch for it after a recent visit to such a delectable night!
Nestled almost at the heart of the Amwaj islands, at a walking distance from the Amwaj Marina and the Amwaj Lagoon, Ramada Hotel and Suites provides a cozy haven of relaxation and accommodation with its elegant design, that blends with its contemporary and classic styles, chic rooms and suites as well as its leisure and meetings facilities.
The Seafood night that we were invited to is hosted at the Hotel’s esteemed international restaurant, Citrus, which is located at the ground floor of the property. We were warmly welcome by the Hotel team which included amongst others, Ms Monika Scheiblauer, the Hotel Manager, and Ms Cynthia Narvaez, the Cluster Assistant Marketing Manager of the Hotel.
We were mesmerized by the artistic artistically crafted creative set up for the night with fishing nets and tyres hanging from everywhere, aimed at giving it a very maritime feel and ambience. We were welcomed with watermelon juice followed by a word on the buffet with the Hotel’s Sous Chef Younes who shared with us the vision behind this seafood night.
We learnt from Chef how the wide seafood spread of the evening has been put together jointly by all the chefs of his team and includes mouth-watering dishes across the various cuisines of the world and therefore comprises yummilicious preparations right from the Thai and Chinese cuisine, to Indian, Moroccan and Continental food.
As we were given a tour of the buffet spread we were completely awe-struck at the sheer variety of the selection. The buffet is a three course meal and includes amongst other delicious preparations, soups, appetisers wide range of salads, sushi corner with condiments, cheese and bread corners, live cooking stations, and a breathtakingly wide dessert section.
We soon dug our teeth into the irresistible food that was on the offer which consisted of the Tom Yum seafood soup, the prawn and pineapple cocktail and the Tandoori prawns salad.
The buffet also allows one to choose their choice of fish/seafood and get it cooked to order at the Live cooking station. He stir fried cat prawns and the incredibly fresh and juicy grilled salmon were certainly things that were to write home about. Amongst other products that are sourced from the local market were Squids, Prawns, Sheri, Safi, Zubadi, baby Hamour and Sultan Ibrahim. The main course also ensured non-seafood items like Chicken tikka, chicken nuggets, beef salads, etc to cater to those people who are not seafood lovers but who often end up walking into a seafood night with a big gang of friends or family.
The live cooking station also served a wide selection of pastas, as well.
The warm and hospitable associates ready to attend to us at every moment made us feel very much at home within a very short time!
After a sumptuous appetisers and main course session, we hardly could manage to sink our teeth into the gorgeous selection of desserts which included amongst other things, Cream caramel, chocolate & vanilla panna cotta, crème Brule, katayef, M’hencha with nuts, Cheese cake, Brownies cake, tiramisu cake, fruit jelly, um Ali, Angoori gulab jamun, cinnamon orange salad, Pavlova, Fresh fruit display, fresh fruit cut with chocolate fountain and marshmallows!
Filled and sated to the core, soon it was time for us to say adieu to the Ramada team, with a promise to return again to these warm, and genuine smiles, some time.
