St Christopher’s School was delighted to see three of their Senior School students selected for the Summer 2018 French scholarship programme, hosted by the French Embassy in Bahrain. The students were awarded for their outstanding accomplishments in French language. The students represented St Christopher’s, and Bahrain, in the French Riviera.

This exceptional experience gives young people an opportunity to fully immerse themselves in French culture and language, while allowing them to meet other students from across the world. Vansh Patel and Khushi Kotilaine were awarded their scholarships having applied for the coveted positions through the school, while Giselle Dias was awarded by the Alliance Française, in recognition of her outstanding performance in the DELF exams last May.

Vansh Patel: “We met dozens of French speaking students from all over the world who had come, like us, to ameliorate their French. The French Riviera had a surprisingly scenic beauty, and we also went on a lot of afternoon trips to places like Old Nice and Monaco which allowed us to not only learn French during the day but also to experience French culture and be immersed in the language for the rest of the day as we travelled”.

Khushi Kotilaine: “I feel as though this scholarship was a big stepping stone towards my French studies for the future. Apart from studying the French language, I certainly did enjoy the activities that Azurlingua had to offer – for example a trip to Monaco, going to the town centre, going to Cannes”.

Giselle Dias: “The scholarship was a really great experience, and I feel like my speaking and grammar really improved during my time there. The classes were challenging, and I really enjoyed myself. Outside of school, living with roommates and managing money were new experiences, and I ended up practicing many new skills that will help make me more confident in future”.
