Bahrain is a melting pot of several cultures and communities who live in harmony together with the local people. Celebrating this unique cultural integrity of Bahrain where several cultures influence as well as get influenced by the intrinsic Bahraini traditions and culture, the Domain Hotel of Bahrain has recently inaugurated a month-long Summer Art Exhibition. Collaborated with the Europe’s Art Gallery, the exhibition has also been organized in partnership with the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Moldova, UNESCO/National Commission of the Republic of Moldova for UNESCO, and the National Public Broadcaster, ‘Teleradio-Moldova’.
The Summer Art exhibition brings the artwork of the current generation of talented European and local artists together at the Domain Hotel. Speaking to BTW, the organizer of the exhibition, Ms Iana Stantieru, Managing Director, Europe’s Art Gallery, said, ‘Our goal is to inspire these friendships and to encourage international collaboration, discussion and promotion between the artists’. When asked as to what is unique about the exhibition, the Domain’s General Manager, Mr Frank Normann Eikeland told us that, ‘In addition to displaying the art works of both European and Bahraini artists, we have brought the art closer to the viewer. In the Art Lounge on the 16th floor or the Domain Privé on the 36th floor, you can admire the fine art whilst relaxing and enjoying the incredible hospitality that the hotel brings to Bahrain’.
It is worthy to note that at the opening ceremony of the exhibition, Sheikh Rashid Bin Khalifa Al Khalifa mentioned in his speech how cross exchanges of culture can be enhanced through art. The aim of the organizers was to ensure the exhibition has highlighted this exchange for our Bahraini, European and Global visitors.
‘We are honored to display the work of a number of our talented European artists alongside the artwork of 3 of the leading artists from Bahrain and Saudi Arabia’ , said Frank.The artists from Europe who exhibit at Summer Art @ The Domain are established artists who previously had exhibitions in national museums, the Louvre Museum in Paris, the European Parliament and Schonbrun Palace in Vienna. Their individual paintings and sculptures are truly awe-inspiring.
The exhibition is being hosted from the 5-31 of May. Some of the artists participating at this exhibition are: Christopher Saliva (Malta), Wedad Al Bakr (Saudi Arabia), and the very renowned Bahraini artist, Mr Abbas Alosawi.
A seat of rich cultural fusion, the exhibition is a testimony to Ms Stantieru’s belief that art has the power to unite people and cultures.
