As part of its continuous efforts to consult with the public and collect feedback from various stakeholders, Tamkeen concluded a series of consultation sessions it held over five days with representatives of 10 private sector industries to discuss its 2016 operational plan and the latest developments concerning Tamkeen programmes. The feedback from these sessions will be incorporated into Tamkeen’s operational plan for 2016 before it is presented to Tamkeen’s Board.

The sessions followed a consultation forum held early in November which included around 600 participants from all economic sectors and brought together professionals of different backgrounds including business owners, entrepreneurs, executives, job seekers, students and other stakeholders. During the forum, Tamkeen presented the participants with an overview of 2015’s achievements along with its 2015-2017 strategy that aims to enhance quality, achieve more impactful results and put additional focus on customers. Tamkeen also shared upcoming initiatives for 2016.

The consultation sessions were held separately with the representatives of each individual sector to listen to their views on the operation plan, explore their needs, and adjust the existing and proposed support programmes to satisfy their requirements. The participating sectors included information technology, construction and real estate, tourism and hotels, retail and wholesale, business activities and support services, health, education, finance and insurance, transport and logistics, as well as industry, oil and gas.

“Tamkeen works continuously to create a supportive environment to help enterprises and individuals grow in the private sector” commented Tamkeen Chairman and Acting Chief Executive H.E Shaikh Mohammad Bin Essa Al Khalifa “This requires that we constantly update our operations to cope with the changing requirements of the labour market and the private sector. Engaging the public and listening to their views and proposals are therefore essential for us to formulate our strategies and future plans. The consultation sessions we held were part of this effort to obtain sectoral-related advice that will help us tune our programmes so that they can best serve the private sector.”

During the consultation sessions, Tamkeen reviewed the key points in its 2016 operational plan, which remains based on Tamkeen’s 2015-2017 strategy that was presented to stakeholders in last year’s sessions. Plans and achievements related to the various sectors were also reviewed during the sessions.
