Coming off a second-place finish at the renowned Alpe d’Huez Triathlon and continued training in the mountains with partner Jodie Swallow, Cunnama feels equal to the task. He says, “This 3.8km swim, 188km bike with over 5000m of climbing (including the Col d’Izoard!) and a hilly marathon is possibly the toughest Iron-distance race in the world. I have been on the podium before, but have yet to win this race. I am looking forward to the challenge.”

Cunnama has refocused on winning tough titles after his DNF in Cairns put him out of the running for Kona qualifying.

Bahrain Endurance Racing Team member Paul Ambrose is hunting for a last-chance Kona spot in Ironman Mont Tremblant. When hypothermia at Ironman Whistler ended his race, he refocused his fitness and his plans. For him, this is Ironman – Round 2. He says, “You can do everything right in training and then something as simple as a change in weather can ruin your day, but that’s life. ‘When life gives you lemons, you make lemonade’ and that’s what I intend to do going into Ironman Mont Tremblant.”
