The spirit of “working as a family’ at Banagas

The Bahrain National Gas Company (Banagas) has played a significant role in Bahrain’s meteoric rise on the global stage. With a wide experience in producing LPG mainly Propane, Butane and Naphtha in which all products are exported to the international market, Banagas also contributes 25%  to the natural gas network with its residue gas which is utilized by Alba and Bapco out of which mainly 75% owned by NOGA Holding, 12.5% by Chevron Bahrain, and 12.5% by Boubyan Petrochemical Company. 

The primary objective of the Company is processing associated gas into marketable products, Propane, Butane, and Naphtha, which are exported worldwide and supplying residue gas for local industrial use.

The Bahrain National Gas Expansion Company W.L.L. (Tawseah) was incorporated in 2008 when the Banagas Expansion Project was converted into an independent company, wholly owned by NOGA Holding. The company was established to meet the growing associated gas production in line with strategies to enhance oil production from the Bahrain field. 

Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, who has led Banagas for nearly two decades has seen his company make giant leaps in the industry and beyond.

In January 2016 the Bahrain National Gas Expansion Company W.L.L. and J.G.C. Corporation of Japan signed an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract agreement to construct a new Gas Processing Plant (CGP-III) of 350 MMSCFD capacity in the Bahrain Oil Field.  In the same year, an EMC contract was signed with J.G.C. Gulf International Co. Ltd. to construct the Field Pipelines and Sitra Storage Expansion Project. The Plant and Storage facilities were commissioned on November 2018.

Banagas has significantly increased its contribution to the national economy as well as the employment market by providing more than 100 additional jobs for Bahraini nationals.
