The Famous Broadway Musical ‘The Wizard of Oz’ Arrives In Bahrain

The CEO of Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA), H.E. Shaikh Khaled Bin Humood Al Khalifa, recently announced the debut of the Broadway musical ‘The Wizard of Oz with the upcoming Eid Al-Adha holidays. The event will be hosted in the Kingdom of Bahrain and kick off on the 13th August 2019, and held at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre.

The Wizard of Oz musical is an enchanting revival of the all-time classic story developed from the ever-popular 1939 film, featuring all the favorite characters from the movie’s cast, starting with Dorothy, her dog Toto and their heartening friends the Cowardly Lion, Tin Man and Scarecrow. The captivating production will capture the hearts of the audience, featuring breath-taking special effects, dazzling choreography and the classic songs from the film.

On this occasion, the CEO of BTEA, H.E. Shaikh Khaled Bin Humood Al Khalifa revealed, “We are truly delighted to host this Broadway musical in the Kingdom for the very first time. Hosting this landmark production comes in line with our strategy to increase the number of visitors in the Kingdom of Bahrain through launching exciting events and festivals continuously throughout the year.”

“Our efforts remain dedicated towards increasing the tourism sector’s contribution to the national economy, we are consistently striving towards hosting world-renowned attractions and family activities, especially during holidays such as Eid, with overall aim of providing exceptionally entertaining and fun-filled experiences that appeal to audiences of all ages,” he added.

Hosting this event comes in line with the BTEA’s long term strategy to further develop the Kingdom’s tourism sector and strengthen its position on a regional and international level under the slogan of ‘Ours.Yours’, which contributes towards the Kingdom’s economy and the 2030 Economic Vision.
