Read on to find out more about Engineer Amira Alhassan and her experiences.

Tell us briefly about yourself: where you were born, your educational background, etc.

I am a Bahraini born in Egypt and raised in a society that adores science and has been educated by professors who are passionate and have specialised in different areas of sciences. I moved to Bahrain when I was little and studied Bachelor of Agriculture (Desert Land Reclamation and Machine Engineering)-Cairo University and further pursued a Diploma of Preparing Arab and International Arbitrators in the field of Investment, Real Estate, Banking Contracts & the Intellectual Property & Arbitration Engineering and Petroleum General and Specialized Courses. After completing my studies, I got married to Jamal AlQalaf , who is a businessman. I also started my professional career as business Bahraini women and achieved success both in my personal as well as professional field. I would say my family and its interrelated relations have been major factors in the development of my personality with the life experiences I am who I am today.

Who has been your inspiration?

Inspiration in my life is a long and enjoyable success story that has many complex chapters that cannot be confined to one person because its summary means wasting the rights of many personalities that influenced my practical life and enlightened my path and made me define my true path. The source of inspiration in the formation of my diplomatic personality is the knowledgeable expert that can be seen in his Majesty the King of the country – King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa . As for the steel personality, capable of facing the challenges and difficulties, I followed the approach of the Al-Khalifa school in the administration and its founder, HRH Prince Khalifa Bin Salman Al Khalifa , the Prime Minister. As for the spirit of young people, inspired by HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, Deputy King, Crown Prince of Bahrain who is keen to develop and follow the continuous changes and achieve unprecedented economic successes while maintaining the rest of the people and making every effort for the happiness of mankind. Both King Fahd bin Abdul Aziz and King Salman bin Abdul Aziz, innovate in the administration. Finally, the school of contemporary management of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has achieved other dimensions of inspiration and it forms the brightest pages in the history of my life that I love to follow.

How did you start this project STEEB2017EXPO?

Bahrain being the core of tourism, exhibitions, modern economy and brain management in Gulf, So there are great challenges for the contemporary youth generation to raise the bar high all the time. When I attended international energy exhibitions and the real achievements of countries in renewable energy and other forms energy, I was determined to start the first renewable investment fund for all types of renewable energy in order to boost the national economy to achieve the general profit and strategic objectives. Hence the idea of the Forum, which revolves around three axes, is The Forum, Exhibition and B2B.

What have been the major challenges of your life so far?

We need more support from the concerned ministers and we need ministries to develop creative programs so that we can achieve the best economic development in order to fulfil the 2030 vision. I appeal to His Highness the Prime Minister and his Highness Crown Prince to push the relevant ministries to participate in the investment forum which will be held from 17-19 September, as this represents a historic event for the Kingdom of Bahrain and contributes to the advancement of economic development as well as helps form successful business cooperation’s between the national companies and the foreign ones.

Tell us about your association with STEEB Expo? Where did it all start and how?

Being the CEO of Arab Gate Expo, Bahrain, and the Chairman of STEEB2017 EXPO (Solar Technology Energy Environment in Bahrain) which is to be held from 17 to 19, September 2017 in the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre with the idea initiated last year in 2016 as Green Energy.

What are the different types of activities are there in this expo?

The forum includes discussions and debates and further exhibits a clear vision to meet the current and the future challenges for the development of integrated solar energy resources as well as other forms of renewable energies that play a vital role in our lives.

What do you think about solar energy?

The kind of energy solar enthusiasts rely on is declining rapidly. The most important factor is accompanying cost reduction with the sharp rise in oil prices. Studies show that the price of one watt of electricity produced from solar energy was in 1977 about 76.67 dollars, and then dropped to 74 cents in 2013, thanks to technological advances in the production of solar cells.

Scientists believe that clean (solar) energy will be our way of life. Solar energy has become an essential need that serves various fields in our current world.

How can someone participate?

Participation in the Forum is necessary for all because it touches aspects of the national economy. The aim of the conference is to boost economic development in Bahrain in light of the economic stagnation that the world needs.
