The large-scale event also featured many family friendly activities including a children’s village, a heritage souq, handicrafts competition, creative workshops, food, photography and more.

His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan said on the official website, the preservation of heritage and its transmission to future generations constitute an important
basis for the identity of people of the UAE and the GCC.

The Al Dhafra festival, with the yellow camels galloping and adorned with white fabrics stamped with the logo, the tents, dates and displays, is a sight to behold.

Historically, the camel was the backbone of trade for the Bedouins of Arabia. Its strong body, able to withhold long periods of thirst, made it an ideal companion in the desert. Thus it was used for long travels, for its milk, as well as occasionally for its meat.
