As part of its ongoing efforts to preserve Bahrain’s handicrafts and traditional industries for future generations and to promote local artisan goods, the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA), represented by the Department of Handicrafts, distributed certificates to its copper works workshop participants.

The ceremony, held on the 20th of April 2017 at Al Jasrah Handicrafts Centre, distributed certificate to 17 trainees. The workshop, presented by professional trainer Mohammed Ibn Sulaiman from the Kingdom of Morocco, lasted for three weeks and dealt with various techniques in the handicrafts field.

“This workshop dealt with various methods and techniques in the art of copper work, where Bahraini art students across various skill levels benefited from the training. We are always seeking to host training courses in line with the authority’s efforts to enhance the skills of Bahraini craftsmen and improve the quality of their production and work,” said the Director of Handicrafts Directorate of the BTEA, Shaikha Wafa Saif Al Khalifa.

The training courses aimed to enhance coordination and cooperation between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA) in order to boost relations between the two kingdoms and to mutually benefit from the expertise and skills of craftsmen, where the products of traditional Moroccan industries are among the finest hand-made products in the world.
