Cunnama and Croneborg back at it

This weekend, James Cunnama races a 70.3 at home while Fredrik Croneborg embarks on the second of back-to-back races in Asia.

Cunnama

Cunnama is lining up at Ironman 70.3 Durban in South Africa only two weeks after his silver medal finish at Ironman France. He says, “Racing an Ironman 70.3 two weeks after an Ironman doesn’t really fit common wisdom, and it remains to be seen how wise it is, but I couldn’t resist the opportunity to race in SA near where I grew up. By all accounts the course is great and I am looking forward to a new race for me on home soil.” Durban was one of the triathlon hotbeds in the 1980’s where South African pioneers of the sport trained.

“This race will be a bit of an experiment for me, but it will be a fun outing before Jodie and I kick off a new block of work in Girona in July and August,” says Cunnama.

Meanwhile, Croneborg is set to start at Ironman 70.3 Busan. After racing and finishing fifth at Ironman 70.3 Japan last week on bruised ribs from a bike crash a week before, the Swede hopes his hop across the pond to Korea will bring better results. He says, “I hope I can surprise myself this weekend in Busan. Sometimes I race better the second part of double race weekends.”
