Zain Bahrain, a telecoms innovator focused on enhancing customer experience, continued its support of education for sustainable development (ESD) in the Kingdom through a BD25,000 payment to the Zain Bahrain E-Learning Center at the University of Bahrain (UoB). The ongoing annual sponsorship is one of the operator’s key corporate sustainability initiatives, which has contributed to the education of thousands of Bahraini students and towards preparing them for the labour market. The annual payment comes as part of the operator’s long-standing commitment to maintaining the highly-advanced technical facility, which was developed in 2004 through an initial donation from Zain Bahrain of BD360,000.
“Knowledge societies are created through the free sharing of information and knowledge. The Zain Bahrain E-Learning Center has become a key part of Bahrain’s education infrastructure, offering the latest in digital learning and supporting the Government of Bahrain’s policy shift towards digitization in all areas. It has made a lasting impact on the Kingdom’s economy, contributing to the education of more than 13,000 students annually and preparing them for the market,” said University of Bahrain President, Professor Riyadh Hamza.
Zain Bahrain General Manager, Mohammed Zainalabedin said “The Zain Bahrain E-Learning Center was one of our earliest CS initiatives, from which our company directly benefited through our employment of many qualified UoB graduates who took advanced courses there.”
In addition to its regular annual program, the Zain Bahrain E-Learning Centre also hosts one of the Kingdom’s largest technology events, the annual International E-Learning Conference, which last year was held under the patronage of Deputy Premier and President of the Supreme Council for Education and Training Development HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa. The event, which featured more than 100 papers on the latest digital learning developments, was attended by more than 400 researches from over 40 countries.
