Alba CEO kicks-off 2019 Town Hall Meetings

Aluminium Bahrain B.S.C. (Alba) Chief Executive Officer Tim Murray kicked-off the first session of the annual ‘Town Hall Meetings’ for 2019 today, 13 January 2019 at Alba Oasis Hall in the presence of Alba Board Director Mr. Ali Al Shamrani, VIP guests, Executive Management team and Alba employees.

During the opening session, Murray unveiled Alba Expectations for 2019 which are:

Safety Gateway – Go to the next level of Safety; Birth of Line 6 – Safe completion of Line 6; Extreme Ownership – Have it in every aspect of our lives; and Growth Mindset – Shift from a fixed mindset to accept feedback and succeed.

Addressing the audience during the Town Hall Meeting, Murray said:

“I am proud to say that Alba has finished 2018 strong by joining the 1 Million-Club metric tonne per annum; doing so Alba is one of the five smelters in the world with a production of more than 1 million metric tonne per annum. I thank everyone for embracing extreme ownership on Line 6 and for a great job in 2018 especially in terms of controlling our costs. Upon the successful ramp-up of Line 6, Alba will top the list to become the world largest smelter with over 1.5 million metric tonnes per annum.

In 2019, Aluminium price will continue to remain volatile on the back of challenging equity markets and increased metal production; however, guided by our 2019 Expectations, we aim to control Safety, Production and Cost, all of which will keep us competitive and successful in our business.”

Conducted by Murray, the ‘Town Hall Meetings’ were launched in 2014 to communicate Alba’s performance yearly in a simple and transparent manner. The “Town Hall Meetings” are delivered to Alba employees from different shifts and focus on areas such as operational performance for the previous year, Capital Expenditure Plan and goals for the coming year.
