1,650 additional transactions processed

Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain – Identity Chip update transactions have grew by 15% in three weeks following recent developments by the Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) to maximize the services efficiency, iGA Director of Identity & Population Registry, Shaikh Sabah bin Hamad Al Khalifa announced. This has allowed many Bahraini citizens to update their chip details quickly and efficiently over one of the service’s busiest periods.

Shaikh Sabah added that in light of the large number of visitors iGA receives on a daily basis, a decision was made to open Identity Card Centers on Saturdays for Bahrainis only, from 13th July 2019. To date, this has allowed for 1,650 additional transactions to be processed.

Personal attendance for most identity card services is optional, as transactions can now be processed electronically. ‘Fast Track’ services are also available at the Muharraq and Isa Town branches, allowing citizens to quickly and easily issue, renew, or update their details without prior appointments.
