Rowing team result hailed

Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Chairman, and Bahrain Olympic Committee President, praised the result of the Victorious rowing team recently.

The team won second place at the UAE National Day (40 feet) event in Abu Dhabi, organized by Emirates Heritage Club.

This was the first participation of the Bahraini team in this competition, which witnessed the participation of some of the most prominent teams in the Arabian Gulf region.

Shaikh Nasser stressed that the team’s finish reflects the developed level of the Kingdom of Bahrain in rowing, which is a prominent part of heritage sport.

He expressed his pride for the achievements of in such an event as team Victorious reflected the remarkable reputation of Bahrain in heritage sport in general, and maritime sports, in specific.

“The Popular Heritage Sports Committee was established not long time ago and we have given them a great support to them, including maritime heritage sports, which have become well established as the 16-member Victorious team has succeeded in their first-ever rowing event, taking home second place behind the Omani team,” said Shaikh Nasser.

“Our team was also able to beat the superior the UAE team, which came in third place, a result that promises to see a more capable Bahraini team of competing on a higher level in future competitions”.
