stc Bahrain collaborates with INJAZ Bahrain to host a no. of virtual workshops

stc Bahrain, as a world-class digital enabler partnered with INJAZ Bahrain to host its Virtual Innovation Camp and Virtual Job Shadow workshops, in support of their initiatives towards the growth and development of the Bahraini Youth.

As a part of stc Bahrain’s Corporate Social obligations to nurture and develop Bahraini talent, the company engaged actively with the university and school students aged 16 to 24 years old to incorporate critical skills and concepts around Innovation and Critical Thinking. The “Virtual Innovation Camp and Virtual Job Shadow workshop “led students to learn these skills and apply them towards their entrepreneurial aspirations and guided them with skills including Ideating to Incubating and finally Commercializing their ideas. The students were taken through the complete transition of thinking about an idea of pitching, market planning, and financial planning.

The company also conducted a Virtual Job Shadow workshop offering students an insight into the World of Work. As part of this program, secondary school students introduced to careers through a one-day, virtual orientation, enabling them to learn more about the workplace and career opportunities available. Furthermore, the program endeavors to help students identify and demonstrate the work-readiness skills needed to research, get, and keep a job as well as develop innovative personal strategies and to pursue lifelong learning and career opportunities.

Commenting on the strategic partnership, Eng. Nezar Banabeela, stc CEO said, “stc Bahrain being a member of the INJAZ team has always focused on supporting the education sector and giving back to the community. Through this partnership, we are investing in creating a resilient generation of entrepreneurs who will shape the economic growth of this great nation.”

The Virtual Innovation Camp helped more than 60 students develop skills in many areas such as communication, information interpretation and analysis, presentation, and selling of concepts. The workshop was competitive with teams participating in the process through a set of educational activities and recreational games. The workshop was guided and mentored by stc Bahrain volunteers as well as others from the private sector. On top of that the students were given access to a digital eLearning platform to further develop their skills.

For the Virtual Job Shadow workshop, stc Bahrain will be conducting 3 sessions including a site visit, with the first session “Perfect Match” comprising students working in groups to identify and evaluating the 16 Success Skills for their preparation of the Job Shadow site-visit. The second session “Now What?” will require students to individually prepare a resume and complete the paperwork necessary for the upcoming Job Shadow site-visit. During the site-visit day, students will be introduced to workplace and career opportunities offered with an opportunity to interview their workplace host, understand and learn more about the workplace, followed by the host leading an interview with the students. The third session “Looking Back”, will have students use the work-readiness skill “Reflect and Evaluate” to complete a personal action plan.

These workshops are in continuation of the commitment from stc Bahrain to provide advisory and voluntary support to INJAZ Bahrain to execute their calendar events and activities.
