Bahrain is currently chilling out with a very cool and creative Summer Festival that defies the soaring mercury. The Bahrain Summer Festival, the popular month-long annual showcase of amazing shows and top artists organized by the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, is now in its 8th edition. Themed as  “Your Destination Bahrain”, this festival is a part of a larger initiative aimed at promoting Bahrain as a pioneering hub for cultural tourism both regionally and globally.

As part of country’s continued success and achievement in all fields, Bahrain Summer Festival endeavors to excel through its events program; exceptional local and international shows are presented  during a whole month every year to an admiring public. A s has been ensured over the years, young Bahrainis are also being treated to a dazzling display of performing arts; they’re taking part in a summer festival aimed at opening their eyes to home-grown and international culture. The Nakhool City is hosting a variety of children’s activities and workshops. Through Bahrain Summer Festival, the Ministry of Culture is launching a showcase of Bahrain’s folk music in a series of open air shows at some of the island’s best known sites. The aim is to boost tourism and trade at the same time as educating the public about the kingdom’s rich tradition of music and dance. Well-known local folk bands perform songs and dances traditionally used to mark important occasions such as the pearling and fishing seasons.

The Voice Kids

Following this year’s opening at the Nakhool Tent, the talented youngsters of The Voice Kids Tour “Ahla Sawt” kicked off the festival in style with a concert featuring the show’s grand winner Lynn Al-Hayek and the four other finalists; Amir Amouri, Zein Obeid, Ghady Bechara, Jowairia Hamdy. The gifted youngsters were joined on stage by special guest Joanne Jabour to render a selection of modern and classic Arabic and English hits.

MohammedBinFaris-570x570Part of the Festival is the Nakhool ‘Bahrain Discovery Trips’ —a unique experience offering the participants the chance to discover the main cultural venues, historical houses, art galleries and many other wonders.

Other events include Young Inventors Corner, Kid’s Library and Storytelling, Pottery making workshop, etc. Flamenco dancer, choreographer and singer Luis de la Carrasca and his company Flamenco Vivo are here on August 4, breathing new life into the traditional Spanish art form through dramatic, classical plays.

With festival mascots Nakhool and Nakhoola, the festival is certainly a must-attend event!
