Jiu Jitsu team wins 4 medals

Bahrain’s national jiu jitsu team had an honorable finish at the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Jiu Jitsu World Tour fourth leg held in the UAE recently. The nationals took four medals in total (3 gold, 1 silver) against some of the world’s best jiu jitsu players competing in different weight levels at the Mubadala Arena.

Supreme Council for Youth and Sports assistant general secretary and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) general secretary Abdulrahman Askar welcomed members of the team at a reception ceremony hosted by the committee in Seef.

He commended the results achieved by members of the team at this major International event, especially young players Mohammed Abu Edees, Mohammed Ghareeb and Soghra Mubarak and Mariam Al Hayki, who were successful in reaching podium.

“We were extremely proud for the impressive results of our players, which proves the advanced level of the Bahraini jiu jitsu players at regional and international competitions,” said Askar. “This achievement will motivate us to accomplish similar successes in the future, while we offer more support for the federation in order to fulfill their aspirations”.

On their part, members of the Bahrain team thanked the significant role of the committee, headed by Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty the king for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports chairman and BOC president, and vowed to continue their quest for more successes in the future.
