If you’re living in Muharraq and were looking to visit the ID Card Service Center, heads up: the center is no longer opens on Saturdays.

The Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) announced that its branch in Seef Mall – Muharraq, which offered updating of ID card details, will now go back to its previous operating hours and will be  closed on Saturdays. However, it will remain open during the normal working days, from Sunday to Thursday, along with the Isa Town branch, which will continue to offer this specific service on Saturdays until further notice.

This follows the announcement earlier in the year that both the Seef Mall – Muharraq and Isa Town ID centers would be open from 8am to 2pm on Saturdays only to citizens who want to update the details of the ID card service chip.

The two centers’ opening days were extended temporarily from five to six days due to a heavy backlog of applications for the updating of ID card details. During that time, the two branches were able to satisfy more than 11,000 ID chip updating requests on Saturdays during the second half of 2019, a 20% increase in output compared to the first half.
