Bahrain’s Proposal During International Horse Event

At the seventh edition of the Global Arabian Horses Racing Conference,  hosted recently in Rome, a high profile Bahraini delegation represented the Kingdom of Bahrain. The conference was held as part of the International Festival of HH Shaikh Mansour bin Zayed for the Arabian Horses and featured 500 dignitaries involved in the Arabian horses.

The Bahraini delegation included Dr. Khalid Ahmed Hassan, the Arabian Horse Stables in the Royal Court; Tawfiq Al Salehi, HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa Media and Information Office Manager; Hussain Al Sakran, the Hospitality of Their Highnesses Director; Hamad Al Naimi, the Public Relations Manager of Rashid  Equestrian Club and Horse Racing; Hussain Qassim, the Races Manager; Trainer Yousif Taher; and Jockey Ali Hassan.

IMG-20160604-WA0005 The Bahraini delegation extended to the participants the greetings of HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Olympic Committee and the Bahrain Endurance, passing HH’s wishes for the conference participants to succeed in their mission to develop Arabian horses which are an integral part of the genuine Arabian history.

Addressing the attendees, Dr. Khalid Ahmed briefed the conference about the Arabian horses in the Kingdom which have a broad ancestry and are characterised with extraordinary physical specifications. He also proposed the construction of a new Academy to provide the necessary training to new jockeys and give them the opportunity to hone their skills.

Tawfiq Al Salehi, on the other hand, presented the conference with the proposal of creating a database for all the Arabian horses and their ancestry, as this will greatly contribute to providing those who are interested in Arabian horses, with more information about them. Mr. Salehi also presented to UAE-based Channel Yas with the idea of making a documentary on the pure Arabian horses. Meanwhile, Dr. Lulwa Al Awadhi, the ex-General Secretary of the Supreme Council for Women, participated in the Female Jockeys of the Arabian Horses Conference.

It’s considered among the notable events in the history of the Arabian horse races, where the attendees pursued to maintain the development of the Arabian horses and their related sports,” Dr. Khalid Ahmed explained.

“The event allotted special sessions to discussions on how to develop the Arabian horses in line with their purity, as well as to explore the role of women in the sport of the Arabian horse races,” he added.
