Reviving Memories of Shaikh Isa—a Man Extraordinaire

At a recent Press Rountable Meet this week at the Shakh Isa Cultural Centre, Juffair, presided by the Secretary General of the organization, Shaikh Ali Abdullah AlKhalifah, an official invitation has been made to the people of Bahrain for personal/professional pictures, videos, etc  of Shaikh Isa that an individual residing in Bahrain may have by 15 April 2016. These material will be used to create 10-minute documentary film on the unique personality of Shaikh Isa, and will be telecast on the sides of the globally renowned Shaikh Isa Services to Humanity Award 2017. The other documentary film that has been planned to be screened at the event will be on the awardees of this prestigious award, and why they have been awarded this.

This is an initiative aimed to revive the memories of the extraordinary personality of Shaikh Isa in the hearts of the people of Bahrain (citizens, expatriates alike).

About the Award

Established in 2009 by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King of Bahrain, the Isa Award is granted every two years to either individuals or organizations who have been selected through a gruelling process by an expert panel of jurists. The laureate will receive a Certificate of Merit, a Gold Medal and a prize of USD 1 million. The award has been named after His Highness the Late Amir of Bahrain, Shaikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa may God rest his soul in peace. It celebrates his long dedication to humanitarian causes and commitment to a world of tolerance and solidarity. The award laureates for this prestigious award has been Tan Sri Dr Jemilah Mahmood of Malaysia in 2013 and Dr Achutya Samanta from India in 2015. While applicants for this award have to be of 18 years and above. The criteria for the award covers areas that include disaster prevention and relief, education, community service, dialogue among civilisations, human tolerance, international peace, urban development, environment and climate change, scientific innovation or poverty alleviation.
