Shaikh Nasser wins Monpazier Endurance Championship

His Majesty the King’s Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, Royal Endurance Team Captain His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, achieved a new milestone by winning the Monpazier Endurance Championship, a 160-km race in France.

Shaikh Nasser showcased his capabilities by winning the race, just six months after claiming the World Endurance Championship in Abu Dhabi, riding the same horse, Darco La Majorie.

He won the race after completing it in eight hours, 32 minutes and 50 seconds. Royal Endurance Team rider, Mohammed Al Hashimi, came second, finishing the race in eight hours, 33 minutes, and 15 seconds. Jockeys from many countries took part in the 160-km race, including Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, Algeria, France, Austria, Romania, Australia, Chinese Taipei, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Switzerland, the USA, and Colombia. On this occasion, Shaikh Nasser affirmed that the new victory adds to the rich record of endurance sports in Bahrain, thanks to the constant care of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the unwavering support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

Shaikh Nasser also paid tribute to the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS) first deputy chairman and General Sports Authority (GSA) chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) president His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, for their constant support throughout the race.

He indicated that winning the first place and the championship cup will motivate the Royal Endurance Team to continue achieving good results during the upcoming competitions. Shaikh Khalid extended his congratulations to Shaikh Nasser for his triumph in the Monpazier Endurance Championship. He emphasised that the victory was the result of Shaikh Nasser’s tremendous efforts and capabilities as the Captain of the Royal Endurance Team. The children of Shaikh Nasser and Shaikh Khalid also took part in their first 20-km external endurance event, held as part of the Monpazier Endurance show.
