In a galaxy not so far, far away, twofour54 CEO Noura Al Kaabi  and three Star Wars Stormtroopers paid a visit to children at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City in support of Her Highness Sheikha Shamma bint Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan’s initiative, “Wanna Read?” and twofour54’s #United4UAE community initiative.

Al Kaabi and the Stormtroopers toured the hospital and held a story-reading session with young patients following the Middle East premiere of the hugely anticipated Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which was held at Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi last week.

H.H. Sheikha Shamma commented: “The “Wanna Read?” team is proud to have the support of twofour54 in our endeavour to encourage healing through reading. Books provide the children with an imaginative escape from the difficult challenges they face.”

Noura Al Kaabi said: “Visiting the children of Sheikh Khalifa Medical City with the Star Wars Stormtroopers today was a wonderful opportunity to put smiles on their faces and play my part in giving back to the community. The children of today will be the leaders of tomorrow and each and every one of us has a responsibility to support and nurture future generations. Her Highness Sheikha Shamma’s initiative provides a unique environment for children to learn as they heal and I am proud to support this worthy charity through twofour54’s “United4UAE” initiative.

“At Sheikh Khalifa Medical City, we strive to deliver highest clinical care to our patients as well as the best patient experience. The “Wanna Read” initiative complements the patient experience by fostering a reading environment.” said Dr. Aref Al Shehhi, Acting CEO of Sheikh Khalifa Medical City.

#United4UAE was launched by twofour54 for the UAE’s 44th National Day to celebrate the nation’s unity in purpose, values, and ambitions and to give back to the local community. Through the campaign twofour54 pledges to devote 2,454 volunteer hours from employees and partners to community organisations and charities including “Emirates Red Crescent”, the “Wanna Read” initiative, and “Special Care Center”. Anyone can contribute to this initiative by visiting: www.united4uae.com.

Established in 2013, “Wanna Read?” is a non-profit organisation that creates colourful environments full of books and interesting educational games for children at hospitals to entertain them and to encourage them to learn through reading.
