The Blonde, The Blog and The Dog

Georgina Jennsen, blogger - blondeinbahrain

If you are in search of what is hot and what is not in the glamour, food and fun space of Bahrain, ‘Blonde in Bahrain’ is the place to be. The lifestyle blog launched in 2012 by Georgina Jennsen, carries the reflections of this Aussie Blonde’s life on the pearl island. One of the most popular beauty bloggers of the kingdom, Georgina shared with BTW her passion for blogging and her inseparable companion ‘Mai’.

When and what inspired you to start ‘blondeinbahrain’?
I started my blog because Bahrain felt a little flat at the time. I knew there were still amazing things happening on the island, and I really wanted to be able to showcase them. I’m also a bit of an over-sharer, and have lived in Bahrain for 17 years, so it seemed the logical thing to do.

How was the initial response? And how do you feel about it now?
The response has been positive from day one. Companies have been so supportive, and getting with other bloggers has always been an absolute joy. I still love it, but I feel that it has taken on a life of its own. I spend so much of my time trying to keep it all going.

How does it feel to be one of the most sought-after expat bloggers in the Kingdom?
I’m honoured to be considered sought-after. I just enjoy being around so many clever, talented and hard-working people.

Which is your favorite post so far on ‘blondeinbahrain’?
My favourite posts would be the following two:
Mai’s Paw-some Day Out and Happy Mother’s Day mum!. The first one is about Mai, and the other about my mother.

Tell us a little bit about the inseparable little canine companion of yours?
My little dog Mai is a 5-year old Shih Tzu. She was given to me as a gift when she was about 7 weeks, and she is the light of my life. She’s always happy, and never has a bad day. I do feel quite guilty though when I’m out so frequently. I try to spend as much time with her as I can.

Among so many other fashion and lifestyle blogs available online, what according to you makes yours stand out in the crowd?
That’s a good question. I sometimes forget that people follow my blog, and am often surprised when people tell me they love it! Perhaps that’s what makes it special, I write in the way I like, about the things I love. And I’m sure they keep coming back for Mai as well!
