Transportation and Telecommunications Minister Highlights Ministry’s Achievements at Capital Club’s ‘@The Majlis’

In line with the Kingdom’s 2030 Vision; the Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications and, His Excellency Engineer Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed stressed that the Ministry is committed to improving Bahrain’s transportation and telecommunications infrastructure and overall service in order to deliver projects that meets the Kingdom’s future needs.

He was speaking during the monthly ‘@ the Majlis’ event held at Capital Club. The networking event, attended by Club Members, focused on the Ministry’s strategic aim to further develop the telecommunications and transportation sector.

During the event, His Excellency stressed on the importance of enhancing and capitalizing upon bilateral business relationships and seeking opportunities to develop the land, sea and air transportation industries in the Kingdom in line with international standards.

“In regards to the telecoms sector, we are working on promoting competitiveness and contributing to the overall economy of Bahrain,” said His Excellency.

“Although the Kingdom of Bahrain has proven to be a regional leader in the telecommunications and ICT sector, it has the potential to reach even higher. Our aim is to position the Kingdom at the forefront of the developed countries in the global ICT sector.  Therefore, it is our responsibility to ensure that the Kingdom meets and exceeds all possible international standards and best practices in this field for the benefit of all stakeholders, as well as evolving the infrastructure to allow the development of a digital society,” he added.

Commenting on the expansion plans set for the Bahrain International Airport, His Excellency said, “preparations are well underway for the Bahrain International Airport. This project was conceived with a strategic focus in mind – to elevate the facilities, infrastructure and services in order to meet the increased demand so we can accommodate 14 million passengers annually, and boost the country’s aviation industry and capabilities in line with the national vision and reputation as a leading financial, cultural and aviation centre in the Gulf region.”

Further commenting on the event, Dina Haikel, General Manager of Capital Club Bahrain, said, “We are very thankful for His Excellency Engineer Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed for being our guest speaker. The @the Majlis series has been successful in bringing Club Members together to network and further discuss pressing and current economic and business issues.”

The event held on a monthly basis, features a number of executives from both the government and private sector.
