Last night star-struck fans gathered at the du Forum, Yas Island to enjoy electric performances by Bollywood’s finest in the capital, as part of the Abu Dhabi Summer Season celebrations. The crowd interacted with the stars to celebrate Indian Independence Day, with the show featuring multi-talented Farhan Akhtar and the Middle East debut of much-loved singers Vishal and Shekhar.
The evening saw Bollywood lovers on their feet as the Indian film director, television host and actor Farhan Akhtar took the stage. With a multitude of awards behind him, Farhan was greeted by the cheers of his fans all waiting to witness the star’s triumphant return to the region after three years. Performing multiple hits from his well-loved movies, the Bollywood heartthrob, who shot to fame after his writing and directing debut in 2011, kept his audience entertained throughout. Farhan read poetry from the movie Zindagi Na Milegi Dubara and his campaign Men Against Rape and Discrimination. His performance also included an energetic outburst with Farhan completing 100 push-ups on stage. During a heartfelt moment, he connected with the audience by placing the microphone on his chest so the audience could hear his heartbeat.
The night wasn’t over for the delighted audience as they were treated to favorite hits by singers Vishal and Shekhar who performed straight after. The musical duo’s award winning songs from the film Jhankaar Beats, including the famous Tu Aashiqui Hai, wowed the crowds and sealed their outstanding stage performance. Much to their delight, Shekhar took time out of his performances to read messages he’d received from young fans earlier in the night.
Tonight is expected to be just as colossal of a success as Shankar Mahadevan, Ehsaan Noorani and Loy Mendonsa, India’s hottest music trio, is set to continue with the Abu Dhabi Summer Season celebrations and take the du Forum stage. The local urban group Ragga Factory, will be opening the stage for the musical trio.
