Electricity and Water Affairs Minister Dr. Abdulhussain Mirza took part in the annual marathon organized by the Bahrain Cancer Society in collaboration with the Southern Governorate and the Bahrain Petroleum Company Bapco.
Around 2,000 people were at the event, held during the activities of “Manama, the Rose City” celebrations. These included volunteers, representatives of companies, senior officials and dignitaries. The festival is held to create awareness of breast cancer and highlight the fight against the disease, while motivating women to carry out early detection tests.
Dr. Mirza praised the efforts of the Bahrain Cancer Society and others in organizing activities aimed at raising awareness of the importance of physical activity to prevent noncommunicable diseases, including cancer.
The minister said sports should be part of the daily life of each person. “We have to strengthen the sports and health culture in our lives. Our participation today encourages us to do so.”
Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bahrain Cancer Society Dr. Abdulrahman Fakhroo said they are grateful to all those who took part in organizing the event.
